about

I wonder about the world.  Wonder, ponder, imagine, search for order, believe in logic, and hope for something more.  Curiosity has led me to literature and photography, science and philosophy–and, fortunately, also back to the physical world itself.  With a Ph.D. in American Literature and an MFA in Photography, I strive to make artworks which reveal a deep engagement with the world at large and which encourage such engagement for others.  And, with a garden large enough to nourish body and spirit, I strive to find the simplifying balance.

In addition to all this earnest striving, I spend my time making art, teaching, working in academic administration, serving on the Boards of several non-profit organizations, and weeding (lots of weeding).
